Job Summary

DOOR Beyond War is seeking a dynamic Advocacy and Communication Officer (Part-Time) to lead all communication, advocacy, and visibility activities of its 24-month advocacy and research program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for content production, digital media management, media outreach, and ensuring the project’s consistent public presence in alignment with donor visibility requirements. The officer will also actively participate in advocacy campaigns, meetings, and workshops, supporting the development and dissemination of key advocacy messages and ensuring cohesive communication across project stakeholders and events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network and cooperate with the Turkish local and national authorities to reach the project objectives
  • Analyze the advocacy goals with knowledge from the field (throughout the two years) and give timely recommendations in collaboration with the Project Team
  • Develop and implement a communication strategy aligned with project advocacy goals
  • Produce high-quality written and visual content in Arabic, English, and Turkish
  • Manage digital platforms (website, social media, etc.) to increase outreach
  • Document stories of impact and success from the field
  • Coordinate media outreach, prepare media kits, and support public events
  • Participate in advocacy campaigns, meetings, and workshops to support message development and stakeholder engagement
  • Monitor communication performance metrics and contribute to donor reporting

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or any related field
  • Ability to network and maintain good relations with Turkish local and national authorities and Syrian NGOs, and other partner organizations
  • Work closely with the Research Trainer (first year) and Advocacy Trainer (second year) to reach the project’s advocacy goals
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in advocacy, communications, or media roles, preferably in the non-profit sector
  • Proven ability to create content in Arabic, English, and Turkish
  • Strong digital media and social media management skills
  • Experience producing multimedia content for advocacy awareness
  • Fluency/Proficiency in Turkish is mandatory (almost native level)

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Syrian civil society and the Türkiye context
  • Experience supporting advocacy or rights-based initiatives
  • Basic graphic design or video editing skills

Contract & Level of Effort

  • Part-Time (60%) – 3 working days per week
  • Duration: 24 months, including a 3-month probation period.
