Global Rights Compliance, founded in 2013, is an international human rights law foundation specialising in international humanitarian law, international criminal law and business human rights. Global Rights Compliance’s mission is to provide justice through the innovative application of international law. We operate in conflict-affected and high-risk areas around the world in over 45 countries. With our main office in Kyiv, Ukraine, GRC is part of the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group (ACA) initiated by the US, the EU, and the UK, to assist and facilitate Ukrainian law enforcement agencies in investigating and prosecuting international crimes.
GRC team members operate in senior roles as Prosecutors, Investigators, Lawyers and Legal Advisors leading and supporting major investigations and building prosecution cases with national prosecuting agencies on a global basis.
We are looking for a Translator/Interpreter (Arabic – English) who will support GRC’s documentation work by providing high-quality written translations and oral interpretation between Arabic and English. The role includes translating a wide range of materials – such as interviews, legal documents, reports, and other written content– as well as providing simultaneous and consecutive interpretation during training, meetings, and consultations. The Translator/Interpreter will work closely with the program team to ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy across languages and will assist with day-to-day administrative tasks where requested.
Duty Station: Remote
Contract Duration: 3 Months, with possibility of extension
The Role
- Translate statements, training materials, reports and other documents from English to Arabic and vice versa.
- Assist with simultaneous and consecutive translations during meetings, training and as otherwise requested.
- Support in drafting, collating, and providing quality and timely input for the finalisation of internal and external reports.
- Closely coordinate with and provide necessary day-to-day assistance to the project team with regard to organisation, delivery of activities, liaison with stakeholders.
- Attend and assist in the preparation and organisation of meetings.
- Perform any other general administrative tasks that support the overall efficiency of the project.
Your Background
- University degree in translation (Arabic – English) required, with a relevant advanced degree preferred.
- Arabic and English fluency (reading, writing, speaking), familiarity with Yemeni dialect preferred.
- Meticulous attention to detail, including excellent spelling, grammar, and formatting skills in both languages.
- Proven professional written translation and oral interpretation experience (consecutive and simultaneous), preferably in an international legal, humanitarian or human rights context.
- Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word and MS Excel.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience handling confidential or sensitive information in a professional context, with a strong commitment to information security and ethical standards.
