Proposal Summary:
The objective of the South Sudan Peace Building and Independent Media Activity (PBIMA) is focused on resolving ongoing communal conflicts to reduce violence and build a sustainable peace by addressing the underlying causes of conflict, promoting reconciliation, and supporting the development of inclusive and resilient communities. To foster reconciliation and trust-building, enhance social cohesion and community resilience, livelihood support, and trauma awareness through community-based initiatives; the activity will target conflict-affected communities across the hot spots with a focus on women, youth, people with disabilities, refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, ethnic minorities and key stakeholders in communities such as traditional leaders, civil society organizations, and religious leaders.
Position Summary:
The Technical Advisor will strategically lead PBIMA’s media activity portfolio and collaborate with peacebuilding experts to design integrated activities.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of a cohesive, innovative, and context-sensitive media strategy and engagement portfolio.
- Oversee all media-related components of the PBIMA peacebuilding program to ensure effective and efficient delivery that aligns with the donors’ standards for program quality.
- Identify and propose activities or innovations to address key challenges faced by independent media in South Sudan and highlight potential opportunities for improvement.
- Recommend strategies for media organizations to effectively engage local communities, ensuring accurate representation of their voices.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree, or higher, in International Relations, Social Sciences, International Development, Conflict and Peace Studies or any other relevant discipline.
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience in a relevant field with a strong focus on media and strategic communication initiatives.
- Minimum six (6) years of working in conflict and post-conflict environments. Experience in South Sudan is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated capability to communicate effectively and develop relationships with communities and government officials.
- Experience of leading media initiatives in conflict settings in either advisory or management roles.
- Strong understanding of peacebuilding, governance, rule of law, humanitarian and development programming and policies in fragile states.
- Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English required.
