Scope of Work:

We are seeking qualified technical consultants and researchers [ e.g. technical experts in key thematic areas like Health, WASH, Protection, FSL, Civil Engineering, and Digital Transformation] to support our project-based assignments in Syria. Consultants may be engaged in short- or long-term projects depending on experience, location, and thematic expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

As part of a project team, consultants will contribute to one or more of the following:

  • Review and input into technical proposals, research methodology, sampling frameworks, and contextual analysis
  • Conduct literature and desk reviews (e.g., logframes, donor proposals, internal MEL reports, policy documents)
  • Design or review data collection tools for qualitative and/or quantitative studies
  • Conduct or supervise data collection, including FGDs, KIIs, surveys, and observations
  • Analyze data (qualitative and/or quantitative), contribute to sense-making and findings validation
  • Draft or review final reports, with a focus on conclusions and practical recommendations
  • Participate in internal/external meetings and presentations (e.g., inception, validation, learning workshops)
  • Ensure ethical standards and data protection protocols are upheld throughout all activities

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    A Bachelor’s degree is required (Master’s preferred), with specialization relevant to the thematic area of expertise:

    • Health Experts must hold a degree in Medicine, Public Health, or a related health discipline
    • WASH Engineers must hold a degree in Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Civil Engineering
    • Protection Experts must hold a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law, Gender Studies, or a related field
    • FSL Specialists must hold a degree in Agriculture, Economics, Food Security, Livelihoods, or a related discipline
    • Civil Engineers must hold a degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
    • Digital Transformation Specialists must hold a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields
    • Other cross-cutting consultants may hold degrees in social sciences, international development, economics, statistics, or other relevant disciplines

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in sectors such as protection, livelihoods, education, civil society, climate security, and gender
  • Prior engagement with international NGOs, UN agencies, or research institutions
  • Familiarity with donor reporting standards (e.g., USAID, EU, UN, GIZ)
  • Ability to travel across multiple Syrian governorates, depending on project needs
  • Published work (non-confidential) or contributions to recognized research products (a plus)
