Canal France International actively promotes the development of media in sub-Saharan Africa, the Mediterranean and the Levant. We are committed to working together with media organizations to promote dialogue between local authorities and citizens so that people can be as informed as possible. Combating disinformation, protecting the environment, and promoting human rights and gender equality underpin everything we do. CFI is an operator of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and a subsidiary of Medias Monde Group.
The AGILE project is a European Union (EU)-funded project launched in December 2024 and led by Internews and its consortium partners CFI, Thomson Media, ARTICLE 19 and Fojo Media Institute. AGILE aims at supporting independent journalism in countries where media freedom is under attack.
Under the AGILE project’s umbrella, CFI is responsible for implementing Workstream 2 of the action, focusing on inclusivity of minorities and marginalized communities, illustratively but not exclusively refugees/migrants, LGBTQ+ communities, and ethnic and religious minorities. This workstream combines research, capacity building, innovation, and advocacy to address barriers these groups face in accessing and sharing information, and to promote more inclusive media ecosystems.
Each consortium partner has a senior-level Technical Advisor to oversee their activities and represent the Project at consortium events, meetings, and consultations. The senior technical advisor supporting Workstream 2 provides strategic and technical leadership across these initiatives, contributes to Project coherence and learning, ensures alignment with global information integrity and freedom of expression agendas, and serves as a key liaison with EU Delegations and other stakeholders on inclusivity-related topics.
Mainly remote mission, with possible travel in the countries of intervention (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania and Zambia), as well as in France and Belgium.
