About MSF Eastern Africa
MSF Eastern Africa is the regional institutional office of MSF. It focuses on representation and networking, recruiting and supporting staff from the region, communications and fundraising, as well as working on other dossiers of importance to MSF such as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), Data Protection, mutualization, training, medical operational support and environmental health.
Rationale/Objective for Position
The Rewards and Engagement Officer is responsible for supporting the MSF EA’s compensation and rewards initiatives, driving employee engagement, and utilizing people analytics to inform decision-making.
The job holder is also responsible for contributing to job design and evaluation to ensure roles are effectively structured to align with organizational goals and meet employee needs.
This position will be hierarchically and functionally accountable to the Rewards and Grading Specialist.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Compensation and Rewards Management
- Support the development of pay structures and reward programs that align with MSF EA’s objectives.
- Maintain accurate records of all rewards data, ensuring consistency and compliance with internal policies.
- Provide guidance to employees on reward policies and practices.
Job Design and Evaluation:
- Collaborate with HR and department heads to design and update job descriptions that align with organization goals.
- Participate in job evaluation processes to determine appropriate grading and compensation levels for roles.
- Support organizational restructuring initiatives by reviewing and designing roles to meet future needs.
Employee Engagement
- Contribute to the development of recognition programs that celebrate employee achievements and enhance motivation.
- Assist in implementing initiatives that strengthen employee satisfaction and alignment with organizational values.
- Analyze feedback from engagement surveys and recommend actionable steps for improvement.
People Analytics and Reporting
- Gather, analyze, and interpret workforce data to inform decisions on rewards, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.
- Prepare regular reports on trends related to turnover, engagement, and compensation.
- Use data to identify gaps, opportunities, and areas for improvement in rewards and workforce design.
Policy and Compliance
- Provide insights on compliance with local labor laws and organizational policies for all rewards and job design activities.
- Regularly review the internal policies and advise Rewards and Grading Specialist on alignment with current trends and best practices.
- Act as a point of contact for employees seeking clarity on rewards or job-related concerns.
Other Responsibilities
- Proactively participate in the individual performance management process including objective setting, performance monitoring and performance evaluation.
Qualifications
Education
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Familiarity with job evaluation techniques and tools.
- Strong understanding of labor laws and compliance requirements.
Experience
- At least three (3) years of experience in rewards, job design, or HR analytics.
- Experience with engagement initiatives or workforce planning.
Competencies

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other HR tools for data analysis.
- Knowledge of job evaluation methodologies and compensation frameworks.
- Ability to design roles and rewards systems that align with business objectives and workforce needs.

- Effective communication and collaboration skills for engaging with employees and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

What We Offer:
- An open-ended full-time employment contract through MSF East Africa Section Office in Nairobi, Kenya.
- An annual salary of EUR 23,296 at HQ Level 7 based on a full-time appointment.
- Social benefits package; allowances ranging between EUR 188 to 295/month based on individual & administrative status.
- Other benefits include; 25 days of annual leave, Employer Pension contribution and medical insurance cover (staff and family) based on MSF EA terms/conditions.
