Overall objective:

Reporting to the International & Laboratories Director of the Fondation Mérieux, the Regional Manager for Asia, contributes to the definition of the regional strategy, coordinates and develops the operations and the teams.

Currently the scope of actions in Asia for this posistion is focused in Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.

Main tasks:

The main missions of the Asia Regional Manager are as follows:

1. Strategic Leadership & Regional Development

• Develop and implement a regional strategy aligned with the organization’s global mission and goals.
• Lead operational planning and oversee program expansion across the region.
• Identify new growth opportunities and strategic partnerships that strengthen the organization’s impact.

2. Program & Project Management

• Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of projects to ensure timely delivery and impact in the region
• Ensure effective allocation of resources.
• Monitor compliance with internal policies, donor requirements, and local regulations.

3. People Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, inspire, and develop a diverse, multicultural regional team.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing talent.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and results-oriented team culture.

4. Partnership Development & Stakeholder Engagement

• Build and maintain strong relationships with local governments, NGOs, community-based organizations, and donors.
• Represent the organization at regional forums, conferences, and advocacy events.
• Serve as a primary liaison for donors, funders, and institutional partners in the region.

5. Risk & Crisis Management

• Identify and mitigate risks that may affect the organization’s operations or reputation in the region.

• Lead crisis response efforts in collaboration with the global leadership team.

  Profile

  Work Experience:

• 7+ years in international development, humanitarian aid, or non-profit program management, including 3+ years in senior leadership within a multi-country context in Asia and in the health sector.

• Significant experience in institutional representation and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on partnerships with Ministries of Health.

• Expertise in designing, monitoring, and evaluating donor-funded projects

• Proven experience in intercultural team management, including remote teams.

  Technical Skills

• Knowledge of the functioning of biology laboratories is a plus

• Strong expertise in project design, implementation, and impact measurement.

• Knowledge of compliance requirements for international NGOs, donors, and local authorities.

• Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and resource allocation.

• Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Business Administration, Public Health, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).

• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in one or more regional languages is a strong asset. French is a plus
