About MiCT

Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) is a non-profit organisation delivering expert media services in complex and challenging contexts with passion, precision, and agility.

Through collaborative work with partners, MiCT fosters transparent, inclusive, and fair dialogue supporting resilient societies. Operating across three continents and 15 countries, MiCT facilitates journalist training, media content production, research, monitoring, and supports the financial sustainability of media partners.

About the Project:

Since 2022, the MiCT Fellowship for Critical Voices has supported at-risk journalists and media professionals from conflict regions, enabling them to continue their essential work in safety. The programme is part of the Hannah Arendt Initiative and a member of the Journalists in Distress Network. It offers stipends, security and equipment support, (mental) health services, legal aid, relocation, and professional development through regional hubs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison between the management (Project Manager and Project Officer) and local implementation partners in the region, ensuring smooth communication, coordination, and timely flow of information.
  • Step in to fill gaps in cases where local partners are unable to provide support, ensuring that fellows still receive timely assistance when and where it’s needed.
  • Oversee and support local partners in fulfilling their responsibilities, including secure communication with fellows, programme delivery, documentation, and reporting.
  • When needed, support the quality and compliance by reviewing project activities, contracts, financial processes, and documentation submitted by local partners to ensure alignment with MiCT standards and templates.
  • Attend and supervise regional activities and events, when possible, (e.g., trainings, workshops, meetups), ensuring proper documentation (attendance sheets, evaluation forms, trainer reports) is completed and submitted.
  • Support the Social Media Manager with timely updates on fellows’ activities, events, and other program highlights from the region.
  • Coordinate proper digital storage of all program documentation in collaboration with local partners and MiCT HQ.
  • Contribute to regional planning and development by identifying challenges, opportunities, and areas for improvement in coordination with the local partners and HQ.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in media and emergency support projects within the MENA region.
  • Fluency in Arabic is required; working knowledge of English is essential for internal communication with the Berlin-based team.
