Position Title: Project Officer

Supervisor of Position: Programs Grants Manager

Employment Definition: Full Time Part Time Internship

Location of Position: Washington, DC HQ – Hybrid Remote (In on Wednesdays)

Role Summary:

The Foundation Project Officer plays a critical role in coordinating and facilitating the development and implementation of privately funded new initiatives. The position serves as a key liaison between field staff in Syria and SAMS’ 1,400 Members—particularly those engaged in medical specialty “Assemblies—ensuring smooth communication, progress tracking, and support for operational planning and donor engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate efforts among staff supporting new initiatives to ensure alignment and efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between staff based in Syria and SAMS Members, facilitating clear and timely communication.
  • Track progress on all new initiatives, maintaining up-to-date records and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Facilitate necessary steps for the advancement and completion of new initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates and prepare comprehensive reports on Member-created initiatives.
  • Attend assembly meetings and contribute to strategic discussions and decision-making.
  • Support medical-specialty Assemblies in the development of annual operational plans and budgets.
  • Assist in developing select initiatives into proposals suitable for submission to individual or institutional donors.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, international development, public administration, or a related field
  • Expertise in membership database management (e.g., GrowthZone or similar software).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience managing virtual communities or membership groups.
  • Proven experience in project coordination or management, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Healthcare or nonprofit experience is a plus.
  • Experience meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with donor proposal writing is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English (Arabic a plus).
