Peace Mediation in an Era of Radical Uncertainty
2

This course studies the approaches and practice of peace mediation. While traditionally focused on facilitating the end of civil wars, peace mediation practice has developed a much more diversified set of instruments relevant for situations of turbulent political transitions, complex investment environments, chronic violence, exclusion in cities or borderlands.

In an era of power politics and the multiplication of conflict – from superpower competition to violence in the household – peace mediation becomes an ever more important instrument of diplomacy applied by government, international or civil society organisations. This course offers an opportunity to learn about the peace mediation sector’s current state and frontiers and dive into peace mediation practice.
