The Civil-Military Coordination Service (CMCS) invites you to our upcoming United
Nations Humanitarian Civil-Military Coordination (UN-CMCoord) training course. The
residential training will be held from 27 April to 2 May 2025 in Reichenau an der Rax,
Austria, with 24 participants. The Austrian Ministry of Defence with the support of the
Ministry of the Interior is generously covering the training venue, board, and accommodation
for the duration of the course. We kindly ask your organization to take care of travel,
including any visa requirements and applicable allowances.
CMCS, as part of OCHA’s Coordination Division, will lead the event. CMCS will
bring together four interdependent emergency communities: a) OCHA and UN agencies;
b) surge staff from Stand-by Partners, UNDAC and INSARAG; c) United Nations
Member States, including domestic and international militaries; and d) non-governmental
humanitarian organizations. We encourage mid-level managers to apply.
The objective of the training course is to: a) define the concept of humanitarian
civil-military coordination (UN-CMCoord), including the five sets of UN-CMCoord
guidance, b) assess the UN-CMCoord environment in operational contexts, and c) play a
key role in supporting UN-CMCoord as it relates to humanitarian access and protection
outcomes.
