The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Port Sudan, Sudan.
As HR Manager you are responsible for developing, finetuning and implementing HR policies and procedures in line with Welthungerhilfe (WHH) standards. This includes contract and payroll management for national staff, staff development, compliance with employment policies, and ensuring effective personnel administration. In cooperation with the Regional HR Manager, you will play a key role in fostering a positive work environment and ensuring HR processes and strategy support the overall mission objectives.
Your responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with WHH’s HR policies and national labor laws
- Maintain and update personnel records, contracts, and HR documentation in Pay Space
- Manage national Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Management
- Implement and oversee the performance appraisal system
- Identify training needs and develop the Annual Training Plan in coordination with department heads
- Oversee recruitment processes, ensuring adherence with WHH policies
- Lead onboarding and induction for new employees, ensuring completion of mandatory training
- Ensure smooth exit procedures, including exit interviews and clearance processes
- Ensure timely communication and training of HR updates and policies to all staff
- Contribute to the development of the organizational structure and workforce planning
- Support initiatives that foster an inclusive and diverse work environment
- Lead the development of a multi year HR strategy
Your profile
- A University or College degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences or a similar field
- At least 5 years experience of working in Human Resources in an INGO emergency setting
- Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices, knowledge of Sudan labor law is an asset
- Experience with HR systems (Pay Space) and payroll management
- Strong interpersonal and communication as well as problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Recognizing the growing value of data and striving to make evidence-based decisions
- Fluency in verbal and written English. Knowledge of Arabic is an asset
