The Grants Consultant will play an important role and work with a dynamic and passionate group of colleagues to accomplish this goal.

Scope of Work
Project Scope:

NetHope is seeking an energetic, collaborative, and proven fundraising professional to attract and grow institutional support for NetHope’s mission. Essential to success in this role is an interest in the process of identifying and matching opportunities for support with potential and current institutional donors in an entrepreneurial, fast-growing fundraising environment.

Deliverables:

  • Manage development and execution of strategies to maintain and grow the institutional support pipeline for NetHope from foundation and government sources, from cultivation through stewardship of current and new funders.
  • Develop high-quality concept notes and proposals for a range of public and private institutional donors, building on NetHope’s programs and serving as primary writer. Collaborate effectively with other departments on the content and needs for proposals.
  • Develop and maintain schedule of letters of inquiry, proposals, and reports, tracking outcomes and updating the calendar on a regular basis.
  • Build and sustain a pipeline of prospective funders by researching and identifying new grant prospects. Provide program funding landscape analysis as needed.
  • Research and monitor opportunities and trends in institutional development, contributing to organization decision-making processes that are strategic, realistic and advance NetHope’s goals.
  • Build and develop relationships with government, private and multi-lateral funders, through regular communication and represent NetHope at donor meetings, ensuring strong representation of existing and potential programs.
  • Effectively engage new prospective funders and effectively move prospects through donor cycle within portfolio. Provide frequent, personalized, and timely email updates to donors and prospects on NetHope’s work, highlighting organizational programs and priorities.
  • Identify grant opportunities and manage the grant submission process, including collection and synthesis of data, preparation of concept notes, grant proposals and budgets, and ensure timely, accurate and complete submission.
  • Ensure proposal development processes adhere to standard operating procedures; provides ongoing feedback on procedures to ensure they reflect evolving processes and changing contexts.
  • Support institutional development knowledge management through timely maintenance of online grant files, proposal and report trackers, and database. Support systematic prospect research process development.
  • Work collaboratively with NetHope staff to identify specific fundraising needs, create impactful outreach strategies, create donor collateral, and ensure excellent donor stewardship.
  • Support the Chief Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer and Senior Leadership Team in donor outreach and stewardship activities. Schedule outreach, develop preparation materials, and support follow-up activities.
  • Participate in regular development meetings and team communication via Slack and other mediums.
  • Weekly progress reports and handover transition documentation will be required.

Qualifications:

  • Seven to nine years of proven success in securing six to seven figure gifts from institutional funders, from pipeline to cultivation and stewardship, particularly for INGOs.
  • Demonstrated experience meeting ambitious annual targets in previous position(s) from institutional donors.
  • Superior writing skills, with ability to quickly synthesize detailed program information and professionally prepare funder-facing materials to include fact sheets, concept notes, proposals, grant reports and updates.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders, navigating complex conversations to drive decision-making on institutional development funding opportunities.
  • Experience in planning, leading, and managing proposals, including collaboration and coordination across teams.
  • Relevant work experience in grant writing, reporting and partnership development; knowledge of international humanitarian and development sectors a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Salesforce, CRMs, grant research and project management systems preferred.
  • Availability to work during Eastern Time Zone hours.

Project Timeline:

  • This is a remote, contractor position with an expected workload of 30-40 hours per week from January 2025-April 2025. Some additional hours of preparation should be anticipated in December and at the end of the contract in May to transition portfolio to staff.

  • NetHope is a virtual organization, so our team, our Members, and our Partners are located around the world. Due to the global nature of the organization, meetings may thus be required at any time of the day to meet with our stakeholders in varying time zones.

  • The work will be performed in a 100% remote and virtual.
  • All contractors must pass an OFAC screening.
  • This position will report to the Chief Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer.
