We are now looking for a Finance Operations Manager to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 35 hours per week with hybrid working arrangements within the UK and occasional travel to our central London office.

The Role
As Finance Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in driving the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of IIED’s core finance functions—Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processing. You will lead the continuous optimisation of financial workflows and systems, embedding performance metrics to ensure high-quality service delivery. Managing a small finance team, you will champion data-driven improvements, ensure compliance with IIED’s financial policies and regulatory compliances, and deliver responsive support to internal and external stakeholders across a globally distributed organisation.
Specifically, you will:
– Oversee end-to-end Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and staff expense processes to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial operations
– Lead continuous improvement initiatives, streamlining workflows and leveraging digital tools to enhance efficiency and data accuracy
– Develop and monitor performance metrics to drive service excellence and support strategic decision-making
– Manage stakeholder relationships across the organisation, ensuring clear communication, issue resolution, and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs)
– Lead, mentor, and develop the AP and AR Officers, setting clear objectives and fostering a high-performance, collaborative team culture
About You
To be considered as a Finance Operations Manager, you will need:
– Part-qualified with CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or AAT qualification or equivalent experience
– Demonstrated experience managing AP, AR and staff expenses in a non-profit or international organisation
– Experience using financial systems (e.g. Access Dimensions), automation tools, and reporting dashboards
– Line management experience, including mentoring and performance development
– Practical knowledge of multi-currency financial management
– A strong understanding of financial accounting principles and charity sector requirements
– Proficiency in Excel and accounting software
– Strong written and verbal communication skills
– The ability to present financial information to non-financial audiences
