Founded in 2002, TRIAL International is a non-governmental organization that fights impunity for international crimes and supports victims in their quest for justice. The organization provides legal assistance, conducts investigations, brings cases to court, builds the capacity of local actors and advocates for human rights.
In addition to its headquarters in Geneva, TRIAL International has offices in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Bosnia-Herzegovina, and organizes field missions worldwide. With an annual budget of CHF 4.8 million, the organization benefits from diversified funding from public donors, private foundations, international organizations and individual donations.
To strengthen the organization’s structure and support its growth, we are looking for a Finance and Compliance Officer. In this role, with its varied responsibilities, your main mission will be to ensure the rigorous and transparent use of resources, while guaranteeing the compliance of financial and contractual operations with internal regulations and donor requirements, and to strengthen the efficiency of grants management throughout the organization.
YOUR MISSION
- Grants management : You will develop tools to optimize grant management, implement action plans to address identified areas for improvement, and advise project managers on best practices. You support the preparation and control of financial reports relating to grants, coordinate project audits, and participate in the preparation of budgets and various allocations. You act as an advisor and point of reference for teams on all matters relating to the financial management of grants.
- Financial monitoring of projects and field offices: You will organize and update financial procedures, train staff and help strengthen internal control. You are responsible for checking field office expense reports and optimizing tools. More broadly, you play a key role in improving financial flows between Geneva and the field offices.
- Compliance: You ensure compliance with donor requirements and laws, as well as the organization’s internal policies. You provide support to teams in preparing calls for tender, drawing up contracts and associated documents, and facilitate the use of tools such as timesheets. Lastly, you ensure that the documentation required to meet audit requirements is properly maintained and archived.
YOUR PROFILE
To be considered for a job, you must be a Swiss, EU or EFTA national, or have a Swiss work permit.
- You have a background in management control, project management, business administration, accounting or another relevant field, complemented by proven professional experience in a similar position, preferably within a legal NGO or in an international environment.
- You have solid experience in managing projects financed by institutional donors, including financial management, audit follow-up and the preparation of various calls for tender.
- You are proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel. Knowledge of accounting or ERP software is a plus.
- You have a perfect command of French and are fluent in both spoken and written English.
- You adhere strictly to the principles of morality, ethics and integrity.
- You have a good sense of organization, precision and rigor. You are good at anticipating needs, meeting deadlines and juggling multiple priorities.
- You are open to the implementation of new processes, solution-oriented and a strong thinker.
- You are able to work autonomously and as a team player. Your communication skills and intercultural sensitivity enable you to develop working relationships based on respect, mutual understanding and mutual support.
