This training is ideal for practitioners undertaking project and programme implementation work in conflict and post conflict areas in Africa. The training will build skills and knowledge of the practitioners in conflict sensitive programming so that their whole project cycle is conflict sensitive.
The basic rationale for any project implementation is to make the situation better for the people involved. It is imperative therefore that project implementation does not inadvertently create more issues of concern than it is intended to correct.
A conflict sensitive approach to project implementation seeks first to understand the context in which it will operate and the likelihood whether the project would make matters better or worse in the long run.
If it happens that the project implementation might spur other issues that the project is not ready or intends to respond to, implementation plan would take this into consideration to determine whether in light of new dynamics whether it should terminate or re-invent itself so as to handle the new dynamics. It is on the basis of understanding of this possible interaction that the project would seek to maximize positive impacts and avoid negative ones.
