Conflict Analysis & Conflict Sensitivity Programming is a module of the REACT program, a five-week training course focused on peacebuilding and conflict prevention

In today’s complex conflict-affected environments, adopting a conflict-sensitive approach is crucial to enhancing positive impacts and mitigating negative ones. This course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of how interventions affect conflict dynamics, emphasizing the need for conflict sensitivity across humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding initiatives. Participants will explore the drivers of conflict, including gendered and identity-based exclusion mechanisms, and learn to apply conflict-sensitive communication and programming to foster sustainable peace and transformation. importantly, conflict is also an opportunity for change, to build back better. Designing results-based Theories of Change (TOC) to measure changes in conflict dynamics is key for conflict sensitive programming and adaptive management.

Learning Objectives:

  • Analyze the causes, actors, and drivers of conflict.
  • Understand the role of gender and identity in conflict and develop inclusive programming.
  • Utilize conflict-sensitive communication tools and dialogue techniques.
  • Apply conflict sensitivity to interventions across the Humanitarian, Development, and Peacebuilding (HDP) nexus.
  • Design and implement Theories of Change (TOCs) to measure conflict transformation and prevention outcomes.

Target Audience: This course is designed for professionals with a strong interest in international affairs, including practitioners involved in project and program implementation in conflict and post-conflict areas, peacebuilders, diplomats, security and defense personnel, and those working with international organizations and NGOs. It is also ideal for consultants, analysts, academics, journalists, and professionals in economic and social development in conflict-affected regions.

The course welcomes participants of all genders, ages, nationalities, and sexual orientations.

Methodology: The course employs diverse methodologies, including lectures, group discussions, debates, role-playing, outdoor activities, and simulation exercises, ensuring an engaging and practical learning experience.

Duration: The course consists of 40 hours of training, Monday to Friday.

Certification: Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate and become part of our international alumni network.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree or equivalent professional training
  • Fluency in English: B2+
  • Strong interest in international affairs
