Support field-level communication efforts in Bicol, ensuring that projects meet communication deliverables and adhere to both Action Against Hunger’s communication guidelines and project-specific contract requirements. This role is essential for gathering, creating, and sharing impactful communication materials to highlight our emergency projects’ stories, outcomes, and contributions.
Key activities in your role will include
Objective 1: Production of impactful content that aligns with organizational and donor branding guidelines and effectively communicates project outcomes through visual and written storytelling.
- Create innovative ideas for fundraising and resource mobilization. Capture and edit high-quality photos and videos of field activities, beneficiary stories, and project outcomes
- Draft compelling case studies, success stories, and other narrative content that highlight project impact.
- Develop creative and concise captions for social media posts, in alignment with Action Against Hunger’s tone and style.
Objective 2: Compliance with branding requirements and project contract obligations by ensuring strong knowledge of Action Against Hunger and key donor guidelines, including USAID, ECHO, and UNICEF, to enhance project visibility.
- Review all communication materials to ensure they adhere to Action Against Hunger and donor branding guidelines.
- Coordinate with Head of Base, Project leads, and Communications Manager to integrate donor visibility requirements in all published content.
- Update and reference donor and organizational branding guides regularly to ensure alignment with the latest standards.
- Support in building the capacity of the project team to meet communications deliverables
- Ensure that all organizational and project collaterals for communications, visibility, and branding are available, updated and accessible by the base team
Objective 3: Amplification of local engagement by leveraging communication skills to share project stories through local media and stakeholder interactions, with a focus on fluency in English and Filipino (Bicolano is an advantage).
- Develop and maintain connections with local media outlets and journalists to support the distribution of stories and press releases.
- Conduct interviews with beneficiaries, local stakeholders, and project staff to capture authentic insights and quotes.
- Collaborate with the Communications Manager to identify and pitch impactful stories that can engage local audiences.
- The development and dissemination of print and digital collaterals if needed, such as infographics, press releases & newsletters in consultation with Communications Manager and Head of Base, and EUAV for Communications
- Liaise between base concerns on communications with the capital communications team
Objective 4: Management of content schedules, content archiving and reporting, and field coordination to maintain organization and adaptability across diverse field environments.
- Organize and maintain a content calendar for timely collection and publication of field stories, photos, and updates.
- Prepare reports on content gathered, engagement metrics, and project visibility outcomes for internal stakeholders if needed.
- Coordinate with field teams to arrange content-gathering visits in line with project timelines and field accessibility.
- Organize and archive communication materials such as photos, videos, recordings, case stories, consent forms, etc. in internal digital libraries
Objective 5: Security Management
- Notify the Security Focal and Head of Base of any security issues encountered during activity implementation.
- Contribute to updates of security plans and strictly adhere to all adopted safety measures.
- Ensure compliance with all mission security protocols and internal policies
Do you meet the profile required criteria?
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Proficiency in photography and videography, including basic editing skills.
- Familiarity with social media management and content creation.
- Knowledge of digital communication tools and software
- Ability to work in field settings and adapt to diverse cultural environments.
- At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in communications, preferably within an international NGO or development setting.
- Familiarity with the following is an advantage:
- Branding guidelines of Action Against Hunger
- Branding guidelines of USAID, ECHO and UNICEF
- Content creation, media management & reporting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Tagalog; fluency in Bicolano is an advantage.
- Advanced proficiency in the following applications is needed:
- Microsoft Office
- Canva
- Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Premiere)
- Meta Business Suite
- Knowledge on the following is an advantage:
- Hootsuite
- WordPress
- Valuable prior experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality or personal commitment to gender equality.
