Future Resilience and Development Foundation (FRAD) is a registered non-profit organization with CAC in accordance to the Nigerian law, FRAD has over the years been actively involved with frontline responses to emergencies caused by the recent crisis in Northeast Nigeria, we also respond to emerging development needs in Nigeria through holistic approach that proffer durable solutions using the triple nexus approach. FRAD response focus on addressing the needs of women, girls, adolescents, youths and Persons living with disabilities via our various response in Health/Nutrition, Protection, WASH/Environment and Peace building, our responses provide support and enhance the protective factors of the most vulnerable populations affected by varying crisis which include humanitarian, development and economic crisis. Over the years, FRAD has demonstrated capacity in implementing a cross-sectoral response that meets the needs of the most vulnerable people and we are broadening our scope through the implementation of our 2024-2027 strategic plan.

Job Overview

The Business Development Manager is a critical leadership role within FRAD, tasked with spearheading the organization’s strategic growth and sustainability initiatives. This role is essential as FRAD expands its operations aiming to enhance its impact and financial resilience. The Business Development Manager will work closely with the Executive Director, program teams, and external stakeholders to identify, develop, and implement new business opportunities that align with FRAD’s mission and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning and Business Development:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy that supports FRAD’s mission and vision, focusing on long-term sustainability and growth.
  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and potential risks in the humanitarian, development, and social enterprise sectors.
  • Propose and lead the development of new programs, services, and social enterprises that address unmet needs and create additional revenue streams.
  • Ensure that business development initiatives are integrated with FRAD’s existing programs and operations, promoting a holistic approach to service delivery.

2. Enterprise Development and Management:

  • Lead the establishment of social enterprises that align with FRAD’s mission, ensuring they are financially sustainable and contribute to the organization’s overall impact.
  • Develop robust business models, operational plans, and financial projections for new enterprises, ensuring they are viable and scalable.
  • Establish KPIs and metrics to monitor the performance of social enterprises, providing regular reports and recommendations to the executive team.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges associated with enterprise development and implement strategies to mitigate them.

3. Partnership collaboration and resource mobilization

  • Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including NGOs, government agencies, private sector companies, and academic institutions.
  • Represent FRAD at conferences, workshops, and networking events to promote the organization’s work and explore collaboration opportunities.
  • Lead the development of funding proposals and grant applications, ensuring they are compelling, well-written, and aligned with donor priorities.
  • Identify and pursue diverse funding streams, including government grants, corporate sponsorships, and philanthropic donations, maintaining strong relationships with donors.
  • Explore alternative funding models, such as impact investing and crowdfunding, to diversify FRAD’s resource base.

5. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:

  • Provide regular reports to the executive director, highlighting progress, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of business development activities and implement changes to strategies and tactics as needed.
  • Work closely with program teams, finance, and operations to ensure alignment and integration of business development initiatives with FRAD’s overall operations.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Development, Economics, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, International Development, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in business development, strategic planning, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of success in identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities.
  • Experience in the non-profit, NGO, or social enterprise sector is highly preferred.
  • Experience in managing social enterprises or start-ups is an advantage.

Skills:

  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and diverse environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Knowledge of fundraising and resource mobilization strategies.
