About NSPPL:
The National Syrian Project for Prosthetic Limbs (NSPPL) was established in 2013 in Reyhanli, southern Turkey, by a group of Syrians in response to those affected by the war in Syria and in need of prosthetic limbs. NSPPL is the first non-profit of its kind in Northern Syria and Turkey to support amputees in recuperating and integrating into a self-sufficient autonomous lifestyle.

Job Summary:

The objective of this position is to work in the Mental Health Center A as a psychologist, to provide non-drug psychotherapy services through a comprehensive psychological assessment, development, and implementation of a treatment and intervention plan, follow-up of beneficiaries with psychological disorders and problems in cooperation with the psychiatrist or doctors MH GAP. And the case manager, in accordance with the protocols and guidelines followed in this field, including and within the ethical and professional limits of the practice of the service that ensures the preservation of the rights of the beneficiary.

Tasks and Responsibilities :

1- Carrying out a comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessment of individuals and making plans based on these assessments

2- Implementation of individual counseling and psychotherapy sessions for individuals who suffer from psychological disorders and problems, according to the treatment approaches followed

3- Support beneficiaries in developing a recovery plan (with step-by-step recovery objectives) based on needs and problems, as well as continuous follow-up according to their plans of care.

4- Coordination, work, and technical supervisor in critical and high-risk cases, especially suicide attempts.

5- Work effectively with other MHPSS team members to ensure a high quality of work with full respect for the principles of humanitarian action and to ensure that beneficiaries are connected to services appropriate to their needs

6- Supporting caregivers for individuals who have psychological problems to understand the problems of their children and how they can support them.

7- Conducting group psychotherapy sessions with groups of individuals who suffer from psychological disorders when needed

8- Conduct additional assessments such as (intelligence tests, anxiety tests, depression, trauma, etc.) when needed.

9 – Follow up the recovery process through coordination with the psychiatrist and PSS workers for the beneficiaries who receive additional sessions.

10- Providing the necessary psycho-education to beneficiaries, caregivers, and family members when needed

11- Taking into account evaluations of beneficiaries’ improvement to improve the quality of mental health and psychosocial support services.

12- Ensuring the confidentiality of the beneficiaries’ information documented in the evaluation forms and electronic and paper clinical copies, while ensuring the good quality of documenting the beneficiaries’ files and information.

13- Participation in continuous group and individual technical supervision sessions.

14- Attending trainings and workshops and working on building self-capacity on an ongoing basis.

15- Provide regular weekly/monthly updates and reports to the supervisor.

16- Participate in raising awareness regarding mental health disorders, psychosocial support, and the rights of people who suffer from them at the individual and community levels.

17- Active participation in advocacy campaigns and celebration of relevant global days

18- Facilitating the collective activities of the beneficiaries and the collective activities of the caregivers of the beneficiaries.

Job Requirements:

  • Academic Background : University degree in Counselling or Psychology
  • Required Experience : Experience in non-pharmacological psychotherapy according to known treatment methods.
  • Years of experience : Minimum three years.
  • Languages : Fluent in Arabic , Advanced in English.
  • Skills : Computer – Technology applications – Effective communication – Ability to work with others within multiple teams.
  • Trainings: Basic skills training – CBT -NET -EMDR training courses – PM+ – PFA – suicide prevention .
