JOB SUMMARY
Provide technical assistance and support program design, planning, implementation, monitoring evaluation and administration of program activities, including data analysis, progress reporting , knowledge networking and capacity building in support of the achievement of planned objectives of the work plan, aligned with health and nutrition program goals.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Implementation of CMAM & IYCF activities
- Support and supervise the CMAM teams at the nutrition services site .
- Ensure health and nutrition facilities and community outreach activities are carried out as per facility work plans with an emphasis on integration with medical services.
- Build strong relationship with SMOH, community leaders and other stakeholders in the target location
- Implement assigned Health and nutrition activities in line with international standards and best practices.
- Plan, implement and monitor day-to-day Health and nutrition activities as part of MedGlobal Program Team
- Develop a monthly plan and discuss with the team the required activities that need to be implemented.
- Ensure that the nutrition projects are implemented according to national CMAM guidelines, and program objectives.
- Ensure malnutrition case screening and growth monitoring are carried out and appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Support the Health and Nutrition Officer in offering technical support to facility staff and community-based teams on the management of acute malnutrition
- Ensure all beneficiaries (U5 and PLW) in the CMAM program receive care and treatment in accordance with MoH Guidelines, including the proper taking of anthropomorphic measurements and proper referral and receive food/treatment according to the agreed protocol
Capacity building and training of CNWs, CHVs:
- Identify needs, plan and organize capacity building training for health staff On IMCI/EPI/EMOC, CMAM and IYCF
- Maintain a database/report of the trained and active health workers, CNWs, and Community health Volunteers in the community.
- Provide on-the-job training, guidance, and support for CHVs/CHWs.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Quality assurance:
- Supervise CNWs at nutrition services sites on a weekly basis
- Ensure proper management supplies, monitor and report on the stock levels
- Organize the implementation of follow-up protocols requiring community outreach.
- Facilitate and organize referral of sick children to the stabilization center and ensure effective follow-up of these children.
Recording and Reporting
- Follow and ensure proper registration and admission/discharge of CMAM patients including ongoing monitoring of patients.
- Coordinate regular community screening of children under five, Pregnant and Lactating Women with Nutrition Assistants, CNVs, and Midwives, as well as ensure recording and reporting of community mobilization and nutrition mass screening activities,
- Prepare weekly activity reports and contribute to performance reports to the Health and Nutrition Sr. officer.
- Ensure regular meetings with the health and nutrition and community health workers.
- Document and share successful stories, case studies, and lessons learned.
- Compile and submit weekly and monthly CH activities reports as per the requirement.
- Work closely with senior health and nutrition officers/MEAL Officers to ensure quality data reports.
- Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- BSc. Degree in Public Health, Nutrition or other health related science field from recognized institution is required, With Experience of 2 Years professional experience implementing humanitarian health and nutrition programs, preferably with INGOs Proven experience in emergency nutrition settings, BCC, PHC and others like CMAM, IYCF, FBPMAM, and epidemic/outbreak investigation and response
- Minimum 2 years of nutrition field experience with a busy project implementing IMAM is required
- Experience working in emergency operations is an added advantage in CMAM, IYCF, and IMCI.
- Trained in CMAM and IYCF, including management of SAM with medical complications.
- Experience working with community mobilization and integrated interventions.
- Skilled in coordinating staff and community members to deliver health education sessions and nutritional screening activities.
- Skilled in conducting health and nutritional assessments and case management.
- Skilled in using behavior change strategies to mobilize community members to take ownership of healthcare needs.
- Skilled at using Microsoft Word, Excel
- A good command of both written and spoken English.
- Keen desire to build the capacity of staff.
- Ability to maintain detailed records with high accuracy.
- Ability to adhere to the MG Code of Conduct.
