JOB SUMMARY
The Communications and Media Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing communication And Mediaoperations, Produce, write and publish media materials, respond to public and media enquiries and coordinate promotional events and ensuring that key messages are effectively delivered to stakeholders, and enhancing MedGlobal public image and visibility.
The Communications and Media Officer will collaborate closely with field teams, external partners, and local media to promote MedGlobal’s programs, mission, and impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communication Strategy:
- Identify communication needs and opportunities to promote MedGlobal activities and achievements in the field.
- Manage external communication addressing public, partners and donors with regular reporting about MedGlobal achievements, as well as the humanitarian situation in areas of MedGlobal’s operation in northwest Syria and Turkey
- Writing and compiling success stories in MedGlobal projects as well as photos and videos covering success stories in coordination with MedGlobal staff in Syria and Turkey.
- Preparing publications, flyers and promotional materials about MedGlobal programs and other visual communications required by the projects
- Preparing and delivering induction, training and presentation sessions for MedGlobal staff to build their capacity and awareness of MedGlobal communications
- Supporting internal communications by addressing MedGlobal teams with regular updates on communications outputs and media initiatives
- Facilitate communication between MedGlobal’s Syria-based team and regional and headquarters teams to ensure smooth information flow.
- Prepare internal communication materials, including newsletters, reports, and updates for staff and stakeholders
- Prepare reports on communication outcomes and suggest improvements based on feedback and analytics.
- Media and Public Relations:
- Build and maintain relationships with local media, journalists, and influencers
- Prepare press releases, media kits, and communications materials to raise awareness of MedGlobal’s work
- Monitor media coverage and respond to inquiries, ensuring accurate representation of the organization.
- Create and edit compelling content for various platforms, including the MedGlobal website, social media channels, newsletters, and annual reports.
- Produce high-quality written, visual, and video content showcasing MedGlobal’s programs and impact
- Ensure that content aligns with the organization’s messaging and guidelines.
- Develop a monthly media plan in coordination with the direct supervisor.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly work reports to the direct supervisor.
- Produce and fully document media content (photos, infographics, video graphics, interviews with stakeholders, human interest stories, success stories, media reports, and all other designs) for all activities.
- Produce a video report at the conclusion of major activities and at the end of projects for all projects.
- Keep records of media coverage and collect analyses and metrics.
- Perform any additional tasks as requested by the direct supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, preferably in a humanitarian or healthcare setting.
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic
- Proven experience in media relations and content creation, including social media management.
- Knowledge of local media landscapes and cultural sensitivities.
- Knowledge and experience in managing social media accounts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and content management tools; experience with Adobe Creative Suite or other design software is a plus.
