-CONTRACT TERM: (Dec 2024 – 31/03/2025) renewable on a yearly basis based on performance

-LANGUAGES REQUIRED: Good spoken and written English Skills & Fluent in Arabic

BACKGROUND:

WUSC is a Canadian non-profit organization working to create a better world for all young people. We bring together a diverse network of students, volunteers, schools, governments, and businesses who share this vision. Together, we develop solutions in education, economic opportunities, and empowerment to overcome inequality and exclusion for youth around the world, particularly young women and young refugees. WUSC currently works in 25 countries across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the Caribbean, with an annual budget of approximately CAD $40 million. We have over 90 staff in our Canadian office, and over 200 people overseas implementing 16 development projects in collaboration with donors such as Global Affairs Canada, the UK Department for International Development (DFID), the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the MasterCard Foundation, and the African Development Bank.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Driving & Navigating WUSC Jordan Fleet (as per WUSC Road Safety & Fleet Management Manual)

  • To be responsible for any vehicle they drive, and transporting authorized WUSC personnel on official duty and cargo to the points of destination. This includes collecting documents/goods from partners and suppliers;
  • To be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of their designated WUSC vehicle(s). This includes checking of oil (engine & brakes) and water (battery), adjusting Gas pressure as well as ensuring that all required tools in the vehicle are functional and available;
  • To coordinate with any supplier who is renting out any vehicle(s) to WUSC Jordan Office to ensure timely maintenance, repairs, and reviewing the received monthly invoices before being transferred to the Finance Department team;
  • To be responsible for the safe-keeping of tools and documents kept in the vehicle. Any damage or loss must be reported immediately;
  • To be responsible for the designated vehicle/s being representative and clean (interior as well as exterior) at all times;
  • To follow the schedule of servicing of the designated WUSC vehicles;
  • To ensure that non-WUSC staff traveling in WUSC vehicles are signing a “Disclaimer (Waiver) form”;
  • To carry out multi-drop deliveries in a timely and safe manner as per the needs of the office.

2) Operational & IT Logistics

  • To assist in maintaining and up keeping the office;
  • To support the team members with IT logistical issues and maintenance of electronic and electrical devices and equipment;
  • To follow quality support standards to team members and comply with procedures, rules and regulations;
  • To ensure that the facility remains clean, sanitary, and well-organized;
  • To create, maintain and update a list of useful suppliers;
  • To liaise with the Logistics & Procurement Officer whenever maintenance of office facilities is required or in case of security and safety issues are raised and logistical assistance is needed;
  • To provide efficient support to all staff, volunteers, and visitors through facilitating arrangements related to visas extensions /residency permits, etc;
  • To review and validate the received transportation invoices and field travel logs from the transportation taxi firm before being transferred to the project manager and afterwards to the Finance Department team;
  • To provide logistical support for WUSC team members operating in the field or placed in different governorates. This support includes logistical and operational support when needed;
  • To undertake any other tasks assigned by the line supervisor.

3) Procurement

  • To supervise goods delivery to the office by suppliers (if delivery is not offered/covered by supplier);
  • To support in drafting competitive bid analysis and purchase orders in partnership with the Logistics & Procurement Officer, and process the procurement main steps whenever needed;
  • To facilitate processing of outstanding invoices and payments to the Finance Department team;
  • To organize materials/documents transportation to assigned locations;
  • To follow up and track on purchased materials and/or services and store documents movement in partnership with the Logistics & Procurement Officer;
  • To ensure effective documentation and monitoring of office inventory, and assist in labeling WUSC Office and BUCRA partners’ fixed assets.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Experience:

  • Must hold a valid Jordanian driver’s license;
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in driving;
  • Experience in working with NGO/INGOs or with regional/local development agencies in the logistics field is required;
  • Must be able to drive vehicles with automatic and/or manual gear with a good knowledge of streets and neighborhoods, roads and road conditions in order to easily navigate from one location to another; (Driving license type 3-1 at least);
  • Willingness to travel within Jordan to various locations as needed;
  • Adhere to all of WUSC policies and procedures, especially WUSC Jordan Travel & Transport Policy.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of vehicle mechanics can be helpful;
  • Physical ability to conduct the required tasks;
  • First aid skills and knowledge;
  • Self-confidence, maturity and ability to co-operate with a wide variety of people;
  • Ability to work on own initiative & under pressure and to meet deadlines;
  • Computer literacy with good knowledge in (Excel, Word, etc);
  • Demonstrated commitment to gender equality and inclusion;
  • Knowledge of working processes (purchase orders, preparation of contracts for services and goods, tendering, protocol etc);
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment;
  • Adherence to the Gender Equality approach and the values of social inclusion.

Education:

  • Diploma in Business Administration, Information Management, Transport or Logistics, or any other relevant field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Reasonable knowledge in English and Math

Languages:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Fluency in Arabic

Position type/expected hours of work:

  • This is a full-time job position.
  • Working hours and days are Sunday till Thursday, 8:30/9:00 A.M. – 4:30/5:00 P.M. with the high possibility of participating in field duty trips across the mission area (in Amman and in any other governorates) which could extend after the official working hours.
