organization Overview

Way of Hope for Life Organization (WHLO) is a charitable organization dedicated to empowering Afghan individuals for a brighter and more sustainable future. The organization is in the process of establishing an English language learning center in Istanbul to support Afghan migrants, especially young women who have been deprived of educational opportunities. We believe that proficiency in English opens doors to legal employment in Europe and the United States, while reducing vulnerability to exploitation and human trafficking.

This language center (language learning institute) will also be open to other learners residing in Istanbul, regardless of nationality.

Position Overview – Volunteer Assistant Manager

WHLO is seeking a Volunteer Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of its English language learning center in Istanbul. This is a voluntary, part-time position, ideal for someone who is passionate about education, migration support, and community development.

The Volunteer Assistant Manager will work closely with the Course Manager to help organize and manage training activities, provide administrative support, and ensure the smooth functioning of the institute.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Course Manager in coordinating the day-to-day operations of the language center.
  • Help with class scheduling, communication with instructors, and classroom setup.
  • Maintain organized student records, including attendance and registration.
  • Provide logistical support for course materials and office supplies.
  • Support student inquiries and help maintain a welcoming environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings and assist in planning internal workshops or events.
  • Offer feedback and suggestions to improve course quality and efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Full proficiency in computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, and email platforms).
  • Basic familiarity with the German language is preferred.
  • Ability to commit a few hours per week on a consistent basis.
  • Good command of English (spoken and written).
  • Experience working with an international non-profit organization or educational institute is a strong asset.
  • High motivation to support the mission of WHLO and uplift marginalized communities through education.
