Overview

Accelerating Measurable Progress and Leveraging Investments for PPH Impact (AMPLIPPHI) is a two- and half-year project that will catalyze early adoption and set the stage for scale up of new and recently recommended drugs for postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) in high-burden countries with a focus on DRC, Guinea, India, Kenya, Nigeria and Zambia. AMPLI- Nigeria will generate evidence (feasibility, acceptability, costing) to support the expansion of new PPH medicines at all different levels of the health system. Project is focused on supporting efforts towards State and national readiness, from community to district and national level stakeholders, to help propel scale-up after life of project. Implementation is in 2 LGAs in Kebbi State and 3 LGAs in Ondo State.

Project is currently conducting a study to generate evidence on barriers and opportunities for operationalizing WHO and national guidelines for advance distribution of misoprostol for PPH prevention at births outside of health facilities in Nigeria. This assessment is being conducted in FCT, Niger, Sokoto, Abuja and Akwa Ibom states.

Specific objectives:

1. Explore values, experiences and contextual factors that could influence policymaker and health professional association endorsement and scale-up of advance distribution of misoprostol for PPH prevention at births outside of health facilities.

2. Assess policymaker and health professional association perspectives on health system readiness to implement advance distribution of misoprostol for PPH prevention at births outside of health facilities.

The roundtable facilitator will participate in virtual orientation, send reminders to participants and facilitate roundtable discussion, working in synergy with the transcriber/note taker in the state of assignment i.e. Niger, Sokoto, Abuja and Akwa Ibom.

Overall Responsibility

Reminder to Participants and facilitation of roundtable discussion.

Specific Responsibilities

Working closely with the field supervisors and the data manager, you are to

  1. Participate in virtual orientation of round table facilitators and note takers.
  2. Make reminder calls/SMS to participants as part of final preparation for the round table.
  3. Recruit and consent participants in accordance with the study SOP or research protocol.
  4. Build trust and rapport with the study participants
  5. Facilitate round table discussion
  6. Supervise the transcription process and ensure submitted transcript is verbatim.
  7. Notify the study team on any Severe Adverse Event, protocol deviation or any other ethical issues during the data collection process.
  8. Ensure data security, storage/management and maintain confidentiality
  9. Submit activity report as may be required

Qualifications/Experiences/Competencies

  • Degree in Sociology, Public Health, Medical or Health Sciences Research or Mass Communication is required.
  • 6 – 10 years prior experience supporting similar research projects is an advantage.
  • Strong experience in engaging with high level decision makers such as Honorable Ministers, Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries etc.
  • Experience in qualitative research methods.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and strong facilitation skills are critical.
  • Good spoken and written English as well as local languages of the preferred state (FCT, Niger, Sokoto, Akwa Ibom).
  • Good computer skills
