JOB DESCRIPTION

AGO is seeking a motivated and skilled Media Assistant (Roving) to join our team in Northeast Syria. Working closely with the Media and Communication Officer, the Media Assistant supports the implementation of communication activities across AGO’s project locations. The position requires frequent travel to the field to document ongoing projects and gather visual and written content that reflects AGO’s impact on the ground.

The Media Assistant is responsible for collecting photos, videos, and testimonials; supporting the creation of content for social media and other platforms; organizing and archiving media files; and assisting with events and campaigns. The Media Assistant plays a key role in ensuring accurate, engaging, and timely communication of AGO’s work to internal and external audiences.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Content Collection:

  • Capture photos, videos, and written testimonials during project activities and field missions.
  • Document success stories, interviews, events, and daily activities to feed communication channels.

Multimedia Support:

  • Assist in the production of visual materials (videos, infographics, photos) in coordination with the communication team.
  • Ensure the technical quality of the content captured (e.g., framing, lighting, sound).

Communication Channel Support:

  • Contribute to regular updates of social media platforms and the website with content from the field.
  • Suggest relevant local stories or content ideas for publication.

Logistical Support for Campaigns:

  • Support the organization and setup of communication events or campaigns on the ground.
  • Set up and test audiovisual equipment (e.g., cameras, microphones, lighting) for field documentation.

Community Engagement:

  • Liaise with beneficiaries, local communities, and partners to facilitate content gathering.
  • Ensure informed consent is obtained before using any personal images or testimonials.

Content Management and Archiving:

  • Organize and archive collected media content in coordination with the communication team.
  • Properly name and file all materials (with date, location, and activity labels).

Field Feedback and Monitoring:

  • Share community feedback with the communications officer regarding distributed messages or materials.
  • Support basic evaluation of local communication impact.

QUALIFICATIONS & PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience in photography, videography, or field communications.
  • Good command of photo and video editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Lightroom, Canva).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with diverse communities.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work in challenging field environments.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and visual storytelling techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills, autonomy, and teamwork spirit.
