Role Overview:
MERA Global is seeking qualified Field Monitors and Researchers to support data collection activities across all Syrian governorates. The role involves field-based monitoring, conducting surveys, interviews, and observations to support third-party monitoring, evaluations, and contextual studies across sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site monitoring visits to project locations
- Carry out qualitative and quantitative data collection (e.g., FGDs, KIIs, surveys, observations)
- Document project activities, outputs, and beneficiary feedback
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and ethical compliance in fieldwork
- Provide regular updates, field notes, and incident reports to supervisors
- Support logistics and coordination with local stakeholders and implementing partners
- Adhere to safety, confidentiality, and Do No Harm principles during fieldwork
- Use digital tools (e.g., Kobo, ODK) for data collection and reporting
Qualifications:
- Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
- Experience:
Minimum 1–2 years of field experience in data collection, monitoring, assessments, or research—preferably with NGOs, UN agencies, or consultancies - Languages:
- Native Arabic speaker
- Basic English required; Kurdish, or local dialects are an asset
- Technical Skills:
- Experience conducting field interviews, surveys, and community-level assessments
- Ability to use digital data collection tools (Kobo, ODK, SurveyCTO, etc.)
- Familiarity with basic monitoring frameworks and indicator tracking
- Soft Skills:
- High attention to detail, reliability, and professional conduct in the field
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to ethical principles, including informed consent and data confidentiality
- Ability to travel locally within the governorate or neighboring areas
