In Ukraine, Geneva Call promotes International Humanitarian Law among the armed forces and policymakers in order to enhance compliance and ensure the protection of civilians in frontline areas.

Role
The MEAL Coodinator will be responsible for the Ukraine program’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities. The MEAL Coordinator oversees the strategic planning and implementation of all MEAL processes and activities to ensure programme quality and demonstrate positive impact with regards to the protection of civilians. The MEAL Coordinator is responsible for designing MEAL tools, overseeing data collection, conducting analysis, writing internal and donor reports, and implementing lessons learned.
Core responsibilities
MEAL
- Responsible for quality project implementation and monitoring in accordance with Geneva Call and donor work plans, budget and procedures;
- Responsible for reporting on all projects, activities and indicators;
- Contribute drafting of interim and final reports for donors;
- Design monitoring and evaluation tools and methodologies;
- Oversee the team’s proper planning for, and implementation of, monitoring and evaluation activities such as pre and post-tests, focus groups, social media analytics, media monitoring, surveys, and key informant interviews;
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data collected through various monitoring and evaluation tools;
- Attend IHL trainings on average once a month, and attend other team events/activities, assessing Geneva Call’s processes and identifying areas for improvement;
- Translate learnings from monitoring and evaluation exercises into concrete programmatic recommendations that are subsequently used to inform and adapt programming.
Project Management
- In Kyiv Oblast and neighbouring Oblasts: Implement Geneva Call activities in accordance with Geneva Call and donor work plans, budget, and procedures;
- Draft implementation plans, update monthly programme plans and forecasts;
- Ensure quality project implementation with the support of IHL trainers and the Legal and Policy Advisor.
Main qualifications
Education and experience
- A relevant Master’s degree.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in a humanitarian organization working in conflict areas.
- At least 3 years of experience in MEAL-related activities.
Technical Skills
- Solid project management skills with a proven history of delivering results.
- Experience conducting interviews.
- Knowledge of Excel.
- Familiarity with donor log frames and reporting procedures.
- Analytical mind able to identify areas for improvement and how to apply lessons learned in a proactive and effective way.
Personal Skills
- Interest and some knowledge of International Humanitarian Law.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive within a high-paced team in a conflict setting.
- Strong communications skills (both written and verbal) at a level appropriate for high level external representation.
- Excellent dispute resolution, facilitation, and team building skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel at short notice.
