STOOS is a consultancy firm specializing in evaluations, assessments, and research across various sectors, with a strong track record in international development and humanitarian programs. With a focus on high-impact projects in regions such as the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Africa, STOOS works closely with clients and stakeholders to deliver actionable, data-driven insights that influence policy, project design, and implementation. We are now expanding our team and are seeking an experienced Gender Expert to contribute to our growing portfolio of gender-focused evaluations, assessments, and research projects.

Position Summary:

STOOS is seeking a Gender Expert to provide technical expertise on gender integration in evaluations, assessments, and research initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal teams to design, conduct, and analyze evaluations focused on gender-sensitive approaches, producing evidence-based recommendations for enhancing gender equality outcomes. This role requires strong knowledge of gender issues, frameworks, and methodologies in development and humanitarian settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Gender Evaluations and Assessments: Lead and contribute to gender-focused evaluations and assessments, including the design of research tools, data collection, and analysis, with a focus on gender equality and social inclusion.
  • Provide Technical Expertise: Advise on gender mainstreaming best practices and provide guidance on integrating gender-sensitive methodologies into evaluations, assessments, and research projects.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze gender-related data, ensuring that findings are disaggregated by gender, and prepare comprehensive reports with actionable recommendations for improving gender-responsive interventions.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with experts, stakeholders, and clients to ensure gender considerations are embedded in project design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Capacity Building: Contribute to the development of gender-sensitive training materials and resources to enhance the knowledge and skills of field staff and partners.
  • Policy and Advocacy: Support the development of advocacy strategies for promoting gender equality within the organization and among stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Education:
    • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • At least 7 years of professional experience in gender studies, including experience in evaluation, assessment, and research in gender equality, ideally within international development, humanitarian aid, or conflict settings.
    • Proven expertise in designing and implementing gender-responsive assessments and evaluations, with a strong understanding of gender frameworks and methodologies.
    • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders, including NGOs, government bodies, and international organizations.
  • Languages:
    • Fluency in English is required.
    • Additional language skills are highly desirable, particularly Arabic, French, or Ukrainian, to support STOOS’ work in diverse regions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods, particularly gender analysis tools.
  • Experience in data analysis using software such as SPSS, NVivo, or similar.
  • Deep understanding of cultural sensitivities and the ability to adapt research methods to local gender contexts and norms.
  • Experience in developing and leading gender training programs or workshops.
