Join Our Disaster Response Roster as a Logistics Delegate
Are you a seasoned logistics professional with a passion for making a real difference during humanitarian emergencies? The Danish Red Cross is looking for committed and capable individuals to join our Disaster Response Roster as Logistics Delegates.
What You’ll Do
As a Logistics Delegate, you’ll be on the frontlines of emergency response—coordinating the arrival, clearance, storage, and distribution of large volumes of relief goods. Whether it’s truckloads of supplies or air cargo, your role is to make sure everything gets where it needs to go, when it needs to be there.
- You’ll also:
- Support other Emergency Response Units with cargo reception (often including heavy equipment).
- Carry out procurement of transport services and minor equipment.
- Keep detailed records of goods received and moved, following Red Cross procedures.
- Depending on the size and scope of the operation, you may specialize in areas such as:
- Warehousing
- Air and Sea Port Operations & Customs
- Transport Management
- Supply Chain Systems & Administration
- Or take the lead as a Team Leader
In smaller operations, you’ll be expected to take a broader role—covering multiple logistics functions in close collaboration with the local Red Cross or Red Crescent National Society.
Who You’ll Work With
For large-scale deployments, logistics teams are typically made up of:
- Team Leader
- Supply Chain Administration Delegate (SCAD)
- RUC Delegate
- Warehouse/Transport Delegate
These teams are often multinational, formed through joint deployments between various Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies. Working in a multicultural environment is both a challenge and a strength—bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise.
Teams are tailored to each mission and often consist of professionals from different national societies around the world.
Your Path to Deployment
We believe in preparing our delegates thoroughly. That’s why your first year as a roster member will focus heavily on training. This includes a mix of e-learning and week-long face-to-face courses—these are unpaid but critical to your readiness.
After completing all training successfully, you’ll be eligible for deployment. We recognize this is a big commitment, and we’re looking for candidates who are ready to fully invest in the process.
What You Bring to the Table
- To be considered, you must:
- Have at least 5 years of experience in logistics, including international transport and supply chain management
- Be fluent in English
- Other languages such as French, Spanish and Arabic is an advantage
- Either live in Denmark or hold a Danish passport
How It Works
This is not a full-time position. Most roster members hold regular jobs and have agreements with their employers to take time off (unpaid) when deployed. Once you’re on deployment, you’ll be contracted and paid by the Danish Red Cross.
Deployments usually last between 1 to 3 months, depending on operational needs and your availability.
