Your Role at STOOS
STOOS invites recent graduates and undergraduate students to join its Business Development, Projects, and Communications teams. Depending on your experience and goals, your role will involve:
- Supporting the Business Development (BD) team with proposal writing and identifying opportunities; and/or
- Assisting the Projects Team with project implementation and management; and/or
- Contributing to the Communications Team by facilitating internal and external communications and managing social media.
What You’ll Do
Business Development Intern Tasks
- Draft technical proposals for services like capacity building, research, evaluations, and needs assessments.
- Participate in relevant internal and external meetings.
- Research Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to identify opportunities to expand the firm’s expertise.
- Conduct research to identify new opportunities and consultants to expand STOOS’s network and capabilities.
- Ensure proposals are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
- Meet deadlines and deliver quality work.
- Perform other related tasks as needed.
Projects Intern Tasks
- Support project-related communications, including taking meeting notes, updating project folders, and coordinating field visits.
- Assist the project management team in preparing documents such as inception reports, work plans, and desk reviews
- Contribute to donor/client reports.
- Assist in tool design.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis, including interviewing key informants from NGOs.
- Work alongside experienced professionals on diverse evaluation projects.
- Transition to managing full project tasks as skills develop.
- Handle additional junior-level responsibilities as required.
Communications Intern Tasks
- Facilitate communications between clients, consultants, and internal team members.
- Follow up on communications and requests to ensure timely responses.
- Manage the company’s social media presence on LinkedIn by:
- Creating and maintaining a social media calendar.
- Writing concise blurbs and designing posts using Canva.
- Coordinating with the projects and operations teams for updates and insights.
- Researching and implementing effective social media strategies.
- Tracking social media performance monthly.
What You’ll Need
General Requirements for All Roles:
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken) – required.
- Strong editing and writing skills.
- Excellent analytical and research abilities.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- High attention to detail and adaptability.
- Understanding of the development/humanitarian sector.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively remotely.
- Strong time management skills for managing schedules independently.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Preferred Skills:
- Fluency in other languages spoken in STOOS’s operational regions (e.g., Arabic, Ukrainian, French).
- Knowledge or experience in M&E and research/assessment (highly preferred for Project Interns).
- Experience with GIS and/or PowerBI.
Additional Requirements for Communications Interns:
- Proficiency in Canva.
- Experience managing social media platforms like LinkedIn.
- Ability to gather and synthesise updates from teams.
- Knowledge of effective communication and social media strategies.
- Diplomatic and strategic communication skills.
Important Information
- Unpaid Internship: This internship is unpaid. Based on performance and STOOS’s needs, there may be an opportunity for a position after completion, but this is not guaranteed.
- Duration: The internship lasts three to six months. Full-time candidates are preferred, but part-time applicants are welcome. Please note that six months is required for interns hoping to gain meaningful project experience.
